"Plant Something" Social Awareness Campaign

THE PLANT SOMETHING MOVEMENT

A flourishing initiative backed by the Colorado Nursery and Greenhouse Association, Plant Something Colorado is part of a nationwide movement that began with Plant-Something.org. Plant Something Colorado inspires people to improve their quality of life by putting down roots.

CULTIVATING ENGAGEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The #PlantSomethingCO Photo Contest

To grow awareness and engagement around the beautiful benefits of plants, we created a grassroots (see what we did there) social media photo contest that helped drive gardeners to CNGA’s statewide nursery partners. A fun, engaging social media presence (combined with a webinar for participating nurseries and a series of Facebook LIVE events) gave the non-profit a simple and measurable way to strengthen the Plant Something Colorado initiative. With four easy steps and awesome prizes, people across Colorado are encouraged to stay engaged and keep planting.

AND IT WORKED!

  • More than 5,000 custom photo entries over the course of the campaign

  • More than 50,000 unique page views

  • Over $10,000 in prizes awarded

  • Authentic, personal engagement with participants

  • Growing awareness for local garden centers

  • First-place awards from BMA Colorado and the American Marketing Association

  • A more beautiful Colorado

The contest is a chance for us to reward our customers for the role they play in greening up the environment and it gives them an opportunity to show off their fun projects online.
